The Galway Pub Challenge - Pubs part 1

Front Door - one of our favourite locals. And just at the end of our laneway...

Tis Neachtains. Just around the corner, a very laid-back place with a huge mix of people.

The Kings Head. A tourist favourite, but we don't go there much. It's big, is always full, but there's just something about it that doesn't do it for us.
However, they do serve Bundy...

Tis Coili. Great if you're up for a bit of traditional Irish music, often interrupted by an impromptu poetry-reading from one of the old guys in there. Has a few trad sessions every day.

Mixers. One of the first pubs we went into. It has a name for being rough, but seemed ok the one time we went in there... Next door to Billy Bobs steakhouse - mmm. steak....

Dew Drop. Another one of our locals - great for meeting up with a few of the lads and having a few pints. Also where we watched Galway (unfortuntely lose) the hurling All-Ireland final last year.

Taaffes. This pub is also well known for its traditional music sessions. Also has quite a mix of locals and tourists, but can get stupidly crammed sometimes...

Fibbers. Only went there once, but seemed ok. Apparently it had a bit of a fire in there a while ago, but opened up again not long after. Fairly young crowd, students and dudes having a few pints before hitting the clubs.

Living Room. We went there too often at the start and got sick of it (but our mate Liam always only wants to go there...) Went there not long ago though and it was great. Life a pub and a club in one.

Monroes. We like this one. There is a pizza joint next door, and you can walk through the bar to the pizza shop, make your order, go back to your pint and they'll bring it out to you - brilliant...

Paddys. Well i have to say this one is good because my cousin worked there, but to be honest didn't go much for us. Too many old drunks! I was taking notes though, hehe.

Sally Longs. Very different from all the other pubs in that it is very grungy. Good crowd, good music, just a good vibe to it.
